Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Citeveriq Research Metrics when you use this website, list a journal or buy an evaluation.

Version 1.0, effective 10 October 2026

Who we are

This website, citeveriq.com (“Citeveriq”, “we”, “us”), is operated by Citeveriq Research Metrics, India. By using the website or creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website.

What Citeveriq does

Citeveriq keeps a directory of scholarly journals, evaluates journals that request it against a published methodology, calculates a citation indicator from open citation data, and issues certificates that anyone can verify on this website.

Citeveriq is an independent service. It is not an indexing database, a government body, an accrediting agency or a regulator, and it is not affiliated with Clarivate, Elsevier, the University Grants Commission (UGC) or any other indexing or recognition body. See the disclaimer.

Accounts

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email or with Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure and for everything done through your Citeveriq account.

You must give accurate information about yourself and the journals you submit, and you must be authorised by the journal or its publisher to act for it. We may ask you to prove this and may suspend accounts that give false information.

Staff and administrator accounts are separate from publisher accounts and are issued only by Citeveriq.

Journal information you submit

You keep ownership of the information and images you submit. You give Citeveriq a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, check, display and publish that information and the journal cover image on Citeveriq and in Citeveriq communications, for as long as the journal is listed and afterwards in historical records.

You confirm that you have the right to share the cover image and that the information is accurate. You must tell us promptly if it changes.

When you paste a journal website address, Citeveriq reads public pages of that website to pre-fill the form. You must check every field before saving; you remain responsible for what you submit.

Listing and evaluation

Listing a journal is free. We list a journal only after checking its identifiers and basic details, and we may decline, correct, suspend or remove a listing at any time, with reasons where appropriate.

Evaluations are paid services described in the evaluation policy. Paying for an evaluation does not guarantee a listing, a particular score, a certificate or an award. Results are Citeveriq’s independent opinion of the journal’s practices, based on the evidence available at the time of evaluation.

Fees, coupons and payments

Prices are shown before you pay and may change for future orders. Applicable taxes are added as required by law. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider; we do not see or store your card or bank details.

Coupon codes have no cash value, apply to one order unless stated otherwise, cannot be combined, cannot be transferred if issued for a specific journal, and expire on the date shown. Refunds are covered by the fees and refunds policy.

Certificates, badges and our name

If your journal receives a certificate, you may display it, its certificate number and the Citeveriq verification link on your website and in print, as long as you do not alter it and you link to its verification page where possible.

You must not describe a Citeveriq score or certificate as an “impact factor”, as indexing, or as recognition by any other organisation, and you must not use the Citeveriq name or logo in a misleading way. Misuse can lead to suspension or revocation. See the certificate policy.

Acceptable use

You must not: submit false, misleading or infringing information; impersonate a journal, publisher or person; try to influence a result by offering payment, gifts or pressure to staff; interfere with the website’s security or operation; use automated tools to copy the directory in bulk without written permission; or upload anything unlawful, harmful or containing malicious code.

Public content and reports

Anyone can report an error or concern about a journal. We review reports but do not publish them automatically. If a report concerns your journal, we may contact you and give you a chance to respond before acting.

Intellectual property

The website design, text, methodology, software, Citeveriq name and logo belong to Citeveriq Research Metrics. You may link to any public page and quote short extracts with attribution. Other reproduction requires our written permission.

Directory data that comes from open sources such as OpenAlex and DOAJ remains subject to those sources’ terms.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep the website available but do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may update these terms. Material changes are announced on the website at least 15 days before they take effect, except where a change is required by law.

Limitation of liability

Citeveriq results are provided to help readers and editors form their own judgement. They are not a guarantee about any journal, article, author or publisher, and you should not rely on them as the only basis for decisions about where to publish, whom to hire or promote, or what to fund.

To the extent permitted by law, Citeveriq Research Metrics is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, reputation, data or opportunity, arising from use of the website or its results. Our total liability for any claim relating to a paid service is limited to the amount you paid for that service.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including rights you have as a consumer.

Indemnity

You agree to compensate Citeveriq Research Metrics for losses and reasonable costs arising from information you submit that is false or infringes someone else’s rights, or from your breach of these terms.

Suspension and termination

You can close your account at any time by writing to info@citeveriq.com. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms. Records needed to keep certificates verifiable, to meet legal obligations or to resolve disputes are kept as described in the privacy policy.

Law, disputes and complaints

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Before starting any legal proceedings, please contact our grievance officer; most issues can be resolved quickly. Subject to that, the courts at India have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings where you live.
